Osama bin laden was killed in Pakistan today May 1, 2011. He was responsible for the September 11, 2001 attack. The American forces found a lead in August 2010 that bin laden was hiding in a compound outside Islamabad Pakistan. Last week, enough evidence was determined to approve the operation to kill bin ladin.
At the president's direction, a small group of U.S. forces launched and began targetting the compound where bin laden was said to be hiding. The full team of U.S. forces carried out the operation. They took great care to avoid civillians. No U.S. forces were hurt. After a firefight, they killed Osama bin ladin and took his body in their custody.
His body is now under U.S. custody and is handled in accordance with Islamic tradition.
The president said finding bin ladin and bringing him to justice is the U.S. top priority in his administration.
The al-Qaeda forces led by Osama bin Laden was responsible for the death of thousands of people during the 9/11 attack which deeply disfigured the Pentagon and brutally ruined the New York twin tower.
The U.S. and allied countries never stopped haunting the people responsible for this massive killings and destruction and invaded Afghanistan following the Sept. 11 attacks because the Taliban government there was sheltering Bin Laden. The Taliban were ousted from power, but the Al Qaeda leader was still at large. The United States has been at war in Afghanistan ever since.
