PROLONGED USE OF CELL PHONE LINKED TO CANCER

Studies has been conducted linking cell phone prolonged use to cancer but no possitive results of the cancer are out yet.

During the recent hearing held on Sept 25 Thursday, Dr. Ronald Herberman, director of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute and several other doctors urged the House of Representatives subcommittee to conduct a further massive study to determine whether prolonged cell phone use creates a health threat, particularly to children, who are using cell phones at younger age.

Dr. Ronald Herberman used model brains to clearly explain the radiation activity, one of an adult head and another of a 5-year-old.

He explained that cell phone radiation travels about two inches into an adult brain, but penetrates beyond the center of a child's brain. He also stated , "I cannot tell this committee that cell phones are dangerous, but I certainly can't tell you they are safe.

While a conclusive finding on this Cellphone and Cancer issue has not been reached, it is imperative to cell phone users to consider it's potential danger ones health and post precautionary measures to limit radiation exposure. Dr. Herberman and Carpenter suggested that :

Adults should use a headset or speakerphone
while children should completely limit cell phone use while their brains are developing.
"Precaution is warranted," Carpenter said. "Even in the absence of absolutely final evidence concerning the magnitude of the risk."
