The iPhone 3GS runs Apple's iOS4 operating system, the same operating system as used on iPhones, the iPad, and the iPod touch. It is primarily controlled by a user's fingertips on the multi-touch display, which is sensitive to fingertip contact.
3G & 3GS looks exactly the same in the outside appearance but when it comes to performance and features, 3GS is a few steps ahead from 3G. 3G does not include video capability but 3GS does. 3GS is 2x faster than its 1st and 2nd secnd generation iPhones.
iPhone 3GS primarily features faster Performance, a camera with higher resolution and video capability, voice control, and support for 7.2 Mbit/s HSDPA downloading but remains limited to 384 kbps uploading as Apple had not implemented the HSUPA protocol. HSUPA means High-Speed Uplink Packet Access.
Apple designed the 3GS display and LG manufactured the product. The display measures 3.5 inches with 320 x 480 resolution and designed for bare finger or multiple fingers for multi-touch sensing. The oleophobic coating makes the screen resistant to finger prints and grease thus makes it easier to clean.
3G is a 3 megapixel camera with auto-focus, auto white balance and auto macro and is capable of capturing 720p HD video at 30 frames per second. It also features a slider which allows users to switch between capturing photos and recording videos and a tap-to-focus feature which allows users to tap on an area of the camera image to auto-focus on a 5x digital zoom.
3GS is powered by a 3.7v 1219mAh rechargeable liithium-ion battery and can last up to ten hours of video, nine hours of internet browsing on Wi-Fi or five on 3G, twelve hours of 2G talk time, or five on 3G, 30 hours of music, or 300 hours of standby.
