Everytime you make changes to your yahoo email account, an email will be sent to your secondary email. The details of the changes will be included in this email.

You have to remember that once your account will be hacked, these thieves will also change your secondary email to theirs. So, if you change your password or if you change your password first before changing your secondary email, it will not save you from the hands of the crooks.

As I have mentioned above, if you make changes to your email account like changing the password, an email will be sent to your secondary about the changes.

So, in other words, if the secondary email belongs to them already (because as I have said, when your email is hacked, they will also change your secondary email to their own email) every time you change your password, they will also receive the new password. They will still be able to log in to your account using the new password.

In order to stop this from happening, you have to change your secondary email first before anything else. That is Step # 1. To do this, log on to your email account, and click "Options" on the upper right corner as shown on the image above.

Step # 2 :

Click "Mail Options" to open the "Account Information" link. See illustration below.

Step # 3 : Click "Account Information" circled with red ink below.

Step # 4 :

After clicking "Account Information" link, log in page window will open. Enter your password then click sign in.

Step # 5:

Account Information page opens as shown below. You can see your primary email address which is your yahoo email address.

Below the primary email is your secondary email. This maybe a yahoo, a hotmail account or any other email account provider. You have to make sure that you recognize the secondary email listed there.

Step # 6 :

Anyway, whether it is your email address or not, you have to change it. Click the "Update your contact information link" under Contact Information section.

Step # 7 :

Enter your secondary email on the second box below the primary email box. Then you can go ahead and change your password.

Step # 8 :

Below "Contact Information" as shown on Step # 6 above, you can see "Sign-In and Security". Click where it says "Change your password". A new page will open with a caption "Change your Yahoo! Password". See image below. You have to enter the "Current Password (old password) then the "New Password". You have to enter the new password twice. Choose a very unique password, should be a combination of numbers and letters. Use different passwords for different accounts like for example your facebook account should have a different password and your online bank account should have a different password as well. Refrain from using the same passwords for all your online accounts.

After you enter your old and new password, Click "Save".

Scroll down to the bottom of the page to save all the changes you've made to your email account.

Click the "Save" button found on the bottom part of the page. After you click the save button, the confirmation page will open as seen below. You have to see this page to make sure your changes have been saved.

Congratulations!, you have successfully saved and updated your email account. This will conclude the process. You can now sit back and relax.
