What Really Is Cancer?
Where Did It Come From?
Cancer is a certain type of disease characterized by an abnormal and immature growth and division of cells. These cells continue to divide without control and grow unnecessarily until they become big enough to create a problem.
The Body is made up of many different types of Cells. Cells are the body's basic unit of life or the Building Brick of Life. These cells grow and divide in a very controlled manner to produce more cells as they are needed to keep the body healthy and strong. During the early years of a person's life, normal cells divide faster to allow the person to grow. After the person becomes an adult, most cells divide only to replace worn-out cells or dying cells or to repair injuries.
But in some cases, this whole process sometimes go wrong. Genetics and a person's lifestyle is a major contribution to the malfunction of the cells. To the worst situation, the genetic material (DNA) of a cell can become damaged or changed, producing mutations that affect normal cells' growth and division. When this happens, cells do not die when they are supposed to die upon getting old or damaged but instead, new cells form out of that cell even though the body does not need them. These extra cells divide, multiply, spread and grow and may form a mass of tissue called Tumor.
Basically, Cancer cells originated from Normal cells.
If the body has a very good, healthy and strong Immune System (Things We Should Know About Immune System), the network of healthy cells from there (immune system) should do a great job on preventing and destroying those cancer cells before they can invade to different organs and body tissues.
But i f the body has a very poor immune system, it would give the extra cells the chance to continue growing, dividing, multiplying and spreading around the body organs and tissues until a mass of cancer cells or tumor develops somewhere. It could be in the breast which will create a Breast Cancer, in the brain called Brain Cancer, in the colon called Colon Cancer and etc. The network of cells in the immune system are weak enough to fight, block and kill these invading cancer cells.
Therefore, it is very imperative to take extra care and attention of our immune system because it is our knight and shining armour.
If the immune system is not able to block and destroy these cancer cells(because it is too weak), these cancerous cells continue to multiply,spread and invade other organs and tissues through the blood and lymph systems thus creating so many different types of cancer.
